Intern Spotlight: Ellie Graham & Kaylee Wilson

This summer, ETIC was lucky to have two dedicated interns on the ground in Sumner—Ellie Graham (University of the South, Sewanee '27, American Studies & English) and Kaylee Wilson (Tufts University, Graduate)—who poured their energy into ETIC. Here's how they contributed:
Helped plan and organize the July 25th Bike Ride for Emmett in partnership with community and NPCA partners
Served as key organizers for the August 29th Barn Memorial, the 71st anniversary memorial for Emmett Till and Mamie Till-Mobley
Organized tours for youth groups, welcoming young visitors to the Center and connecting them to Emmett Till's story
Built the event's run of show, site map, and attendee "Memory Cards," and shaped the reception's dialogue, table logistics, and decor
Strengthened ETIC's historic preservation philosophy and built a descriptive guide to significant Till-related sites—work now informing our capital campaign
Created social media content and captured photos to keep our community connected to events as they unfolded
Lent a hand across day-to-day office operations throughout the summer
"Working at the Emmett Till Interpretive Center was an amazing and eye-opening experience," said Wilson. "I am so grateful to say I was a part of the team this summer!"
"I deeply appreciated my summer in Sumner and my time working with ETIC," Graham said. "I gained invaluable experience working with the mission of the organization and engaging with members of the community. I am so grateful for my time there and will certainly take back lessons of justice, truth-telling, and healing to Sewanee!"
We're grateful for everything Ellie and Kaylee brought to our staff this summer. Their initiative and care made a real difference.
