Because of Emmett Till’s untimely death, we will never know how he might have contributed to society. We will never know what level of education he would have pursued, nor what type of impact he might have had in his field of study. We do know that his mother, Mamie Till-Mobley, was an educator who viewed education as a catalyst for change. She believed that education was a transformative practice and a vital part of the fight for equality. She utilized her role to instill hope, purpose, and a sense of worth in her students, particularly within the Black community.
With that in mind, and in this, the 70th anniversary year of Emmett’s passing, we wish to honor Mamie through our End-of-Year
“70 for 70 College Collective” campaign.

We are asking our Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) to show your support by becoming partners in this important collective through our peer-to-peer fundraising platform. Together, let us honor Mamie’s legacy and Emmett’s memory by investing in the power of education and the promise it holds for our communities.
Please join the collective today and help us reach our goal! Your participation will make you a vital part of Emmett and Mamie’s living legacy!
To show our appreciation for your support, each participating college will:
• Be listed as an ETIC College Collective Member in monthly newsletters for 2025
• Receive our monthly newsletter
• Be announced on social media as a partner
• Receive a digital Emmett Till lock screen to share with your campus donors
Here’s How It Works:
• Customize your team page (provided by ETIC)
• Set your team goal of at least $3500
• Determine how you would like to achieve your goal (ex. Intra-campus competitions, bake sales, general student body donations, etc.)
• Share your team page with the entire campus and on your social media page to start receiving donations
• Promote throughout the campaign to achieve your goal
A SPECIAL THANK YOU:
As a special thank you and to continue our goal of educating the next generation, each college that reaches its goal will be entered into a drawing to have Mr. Wright Thompson, author of The Barn, come to your campus for a lecture on Emmett’s story and racial healing. We will hold the drawing upon completion of the campaign and will work with the college and Mr. Wright to schedule the lecture.
